ORTOM HAS PUT BENUE ON THE RIGHT PATH OF DEVELOPMNET – ZWINGINA

The European Union representative in Nigeria, Senator Jonathan Zwingina yesterday stated that the efforts so far made by Governor Samuel Ortom will reposition Benue State for greater development.
Senator Zwingina stated this at a dinner organised for the European Union delegation at the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi.

He said the transparency and accountability thrust of the Ortom administration was the pillar for meaningful development, disclosing that the European Union had made Benue a pilot state to benefit from its support.

“We want to return to Benue soon to commission projects as a result of this visit. The EU has chosen Benue as a pilot state and the state is top on the Union’s grant list. With the way Governor Ortom has started, the state stands to benefit more from the EU”, Senator Zwingina stated.

Governor Ortom thanked the European Union for choosing Benue State as a pilot beneficiary of its grant, promising that, when accessed, the state would prudently utilise the funds for greater development.

He stressed that Benue State has abundant resources and talents yet to be tapped and reiterated the commitment of his administration to be transparent in handling the resources of the state.

The Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mr. Terkimbi Ikyange, also thanked the EU for choosing Benue as a pilot state for its assistance and assured that the House would continue to play its role to ensure the success of the Ortom administration.

Highpoint of the occasion was the decoration of members of the EU delegation with traditional attires of the various ethnic groups in the state.
