ORTOM RETURNS, RESUMES DUTY


Following his successful trip to China and a week's vacation, Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has resumed duty to continue with the governance of the state.



Governor Ortom who arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja a few minutes past three o'clock yesterday accompanied by his wife, Eunice, was received by top government officials from the state, party chieftains among who were Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Targema Takema, Member representing Makurdi/Guma Federal Constituency, Hon. Dickson Tarkighir, a former Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs, Mr Sam Ode, some Commissioners and Special Advisers as well as the Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr. Philip Tachin.

Governor Ortom who later interacted with some of his appointees present, commended the Acting Governor, Engineer Benson Abounu for effectively handling the affairs of the state while he was on leave. He also thanked the people of the state for their overwhelming support to the present administration.

The Governor will today in Abuja, take part in the hosting of Cameroonian President, Paul Biya by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock Villa. The two leaders and their officials would discuss issues of common interest to Nigeria and Cameroon, including ongoing bilateral and regional cooperation against terrorism, violent extremism and cross-border crimes which have affected states like Benue.

Tomorrow, Governor Ortom will leave Abuja for Makurdi to preside over the State Executive Council meeting.
