APC Senatorial Primaries in Benue State

1. Benue North East - Senator Barnabas Gemade 2. Benue North West - Senator George Akume

3. Benue South - Not successful.

Two aspirants were to contest the Benue South primaries, Comrade Dan Onjeh, former NANS President and Chief Madaki Ameh, the OKALEYA K'IDOMA.

It was gathered that only Comrade Onjeh was duly screened and certified to run the election, having paid the mandatory fee of N3.3m for expression of interest and nomination forms.

In a dramatic turn, Chief Okaleya who was alleged of not buying the nomination form, appeared on the venue of the primaries on Sunday in Otukpo and started canvassing for votes from the delegates after accreditation.

Our Correspondent reported that over 2800 delegates were accredited and ready to cast votes when a phone call was received by the leader of the electoral team and the committee left the premises without formal address, leaving the delegates, INEC officials, security agents and Journalists in total confusions.

As at the time of filing this report, nothing has been heard about the contest.

Meanwhile, Comrade Dan Onjeh has vowed to follow the process to the later and get his mandate.

Speaking with our correspondent in Otukpo on Sunday, the former West African Students Union WASU President said he was up against "executive manipulations" from his party but was optimistic that he would get the ticket as he was the only aspirant cleared by the party to contest.

Yhe above account is complete inaccurate. Not only did I purchase my nomination form on 2nd December 2014, I have the original receipt for N3m issued to me by the party and the teller for the deposit of this money into the party account. I also have receipts and deposit slips for the expression of interest forms of N150,000 and N300,000 to both the State and National Secretariats of APC. I therefore wonder where my co-contestant is coming from, and why he has been hanging on this for all time, unless he acknowleges the fact that he cannot win this contest or the election itself in February 2015. I have shown these documents to the delegates who are all satisfied with it and it is a non issue for them. Rather than hanging on straws, my co-contestant should please focus on how he will make lives livable for our long suffering people.

And by the way, the rerun of the Senatorial primaries for Zone C holds today at Vanapo Hotels, GRA Otukpo.

Madaki Ameh
And by the special grace of God who has heard the long standing cries of our people, I will emerge victorious at the primaries today and also eventually defeat the Goliath of our time on February 14th 2015.
More Updates to follow...
