Milo b’ball: Benue, Ondo schools in final

Government Secondary School, Gboko, Benue State, and CAC Grammar School, Akure, Ondo State, will battle in the girls’ category final match of the ongoing 2014 Nestle Milo Secondary Schools Basketball Championship.

The final matches for both the boys’ and girls’ categories will be played on Saturday, at the Sports Hall, National Stadium, Lagos.

In the two semi final matches played on Thursday, the girls from Ondo beat St. Jude Girls Secondary School, Amarata, Bayelsa State 23-22; while the Benue team defeated Yejide Girls Grammar School, Ibadan, Oyo State, 36-29.

Earlier, in the last set of group matches, that was also played on Thursday, GSS Gboko defeated West End Mixed Secondary School, Asaba, Delta State, 35-34; the girls from Ondo trounced their counterpart from Government Secondary School, Numan, Adamawa State, 37-15.

In the boys’ category, Gen. Murtala Muhammed College, Yola, Adamawa State, scored 46-31 over St. Augustine’s Seminary, Ezzamgbo, Ebonyi State; while Henson Demonstration Group of Schools, Benin, Edo State beat Osadennis High School, Asaba, Delta State, 38-26.

The two semi final matches for the boys as well as the third place matches for both the girls and the boys will be played on Friday (today).

St. Jude Girls Secondary School, Amarata, and the Yejide Girls Grammar School, Ibadan, will fight for third place in the girls’ category.

A total of 12 teams are competing in the tournament which kicked off on December 2.
