'Blame It On Experience' Wins 'Mark D Ball' 2014

'Blame it on Experience' basketball team has won the 2014 edition of 'Mark D Ball' basketball tournament.

Having lost to ESPN in last year's quarterfinals, 'Blame it on Experience' were on a revenge mission against the television boys.

Led by Stanley Gumut who terrorized the opponents through out the encounter, 'Blame it on Experience' raced to a 19:18 lead in the first quarter.

They went on to win the remaining three quarters; 46:35, 66:50 and 86:77 to reclaim the trophy they lost to Pioneers last year.

Benue Braves defeated Apa Flames 42:41 to win the third place match.

In the female category, Pearls of Lagos edged Baby Seals also of Lagos to claim the title.

Inspired by Point Guard, Chidinma Nwaokoma, Pearls took the initiative from the first quarter and did not look back till the final whistle.

It was 13:13 after the first quarter but Pearls sped to a 30:24 lead in the second. They won the last two quarters as well to end the game 74:67.

FCT Angels won the third place encounter against Plateau Rockers 25:20 to win the bronze medal.

The champions in both categories were given N425,000 and a trophy each while second and third placed teams received N300,000 and N175,000 each respectively.

'Blame it on Experience's Ejike Ugbuaja won the Most Valuable Player in the male category while Tina Elawure of Pearls won the female category.
