Gunmen Kidnap College Provost in Benue

Gunmen have abducted the Provost of the College of Education (COE), Katsina-Ala, Benue State, Hans Senwua.
Daily Independent gathered that the Provost was kidnapped on Tuesday night at his residence.

It was also gathered that the abduction was noticed during a peaceful march to the residence of the Provost by students of the institution.

It was the protesting students who discovered that the Provost had gone missing.

Though the circumstances that led to the kidnap was still sketchy as at press time, however, Daily Independent gathered that the kidnappers may have taken advantage of the ensuing confusion to stage the kidnap.

The State Governor, Gabriel Suswam, who spoke with newsman in Makurdi, alleged that the act may have been perpetrated by some desperate politicians.

He observed that their intention may be to create confusion to win elections but that the state government was working with security outfits in the state to arrest the situation.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Austin Ezeani, who confirmed the incident, said they are working towards securing the release the Provost.
