HON. TERKIMBI IKYANGE OF THE #APC ELECTED AS SPEAKER OF #BENUE STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY

Today, Friday, 5th June, 2015, the 8th Assembly of the Benue State Legislature was inaugurated by the Executive Governor of the state, Dr. Samuel Ioraer Ortom, and following immediately, the newly inaugurated Assembly elected its leaders.

Rt. Hon. Terkimbi Ikyange representing Ushongo State Constituency emerged Speaker having garnered a vote tally of 17 against the 13 for Hon. Dominic Ucha of Tiev State Constituency.

By this development, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) pulled off the historic feat of safeguarding their minority 14 member votes successfully and at the same reaching over to 'pilfer' 3 more from the opposition People's Democratic Party (PDP), which couldn't hold its ranks together to the end.
