Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi has dropped Chibuzor Okonkwo and Kunle Odunlami from his list of players called up from the domestic league ahead of this month's Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Chad.

Just eight out of the 26-initial invitees made the cut with goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi leading the charge alongside Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Azubuike Egwuekwe, Chika Akas, Bright Onyedikachi, Solomon Kwambe, Gbolahan Salami and Ikeckhukwu Gabriel.

According to Keshi, the retained players would be joined by the fifteen invited foreign pros for the final phase of preparations for Nigeria’s opening 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Kaduna.

He also encouraged players who failed to make the cut to work harder towards getting an invite to the national team in the future.

In another development, players of Warri Wolves have been released for this weekend's make or break Caf Confederation Cup playoff second leg against AC Leopards of Congo.

The game takes place on Saturday at the Warri Township Stadium. The Seasiders crashed 3-0 in the first leg played in the east African nation.
