#Benue To Investigate Poor Performance Of Lobi Stars FC

The Benue State government has vowed to get to the bottom of the reason for its club, Lobi Stars’, “decay and the dwindling performance”.

The deputy governor, Benson Abounu, stated this yesterday during a chat with members of the Nigeria Union Journalists’ Correspondents chapel, when the journalists paid Abounu a courtesy visit in his office to congratulate him over his election victory.

According to Abounu, the development of sports is the major priority of the Governor Samuel Ortom administration and, thus, emphasis will be laid on proactive measures to fast-track promotion of sports in the state.

Abounu explained that the essence of the investigation is to “discover the remote and immediate causes of the breakdown of the state-owned football team and other sporting facilities” and “fashioning out workable ways to revamp them”.

Abounu confessed the government’s embarrassment and sadness over the performance of Lobi Stars FC in recent times, both nationally and internationally, pointing out that the team has been unable to win “any trophy” in recent years.
