Lobi Stars and Akwa United are through to the finals of the 2015 Federation Cup after securing slim 1-0 wins over Enugu Rangers and Nasarawa United respectively in Wednesday’s semi final contests.

Eche Idakwo was the hero for Lobi Stars as they sealed their place in the Lagos finals after a keenly contested semi final duel in Kastina against a Rangers side hoping to end their three decade trophy-drought.

Though Lobi are not enjoying the best of times in the

league where they were currently placed 15th on the log, the Benue State owned team are making up with a good run in the Cup competition where they are now seeking their third triumph.

For Akwa United also, the League has not given them much to cheer as they are placed 14th on the log, but the Akwa Ibom State team will be hoping to make history with their first Federation Cup title win this season.

Aniekpeno Udoh scored the only goal of the game for Akwa United in the 28th minute to book a place in the final of the Federation Cup for the first time in the club’s history.

For the women’s category, it will be Bayelsa Queens against Sunshine Queens in the finals.

Bayelsa Queens beat Confluence Queens 1-0 while Sunshine Queens edged out Amazon Queens on penalties 3-2 after playing 0-0 in regulation time.

The finals of the 2015 Federation Cup has been fixed for Lagos but no actual date has been agreed.
