Okpotu brace sinks FC Taraba in Makurdi


Lobi Stars striker Anthony Okpotu scored two second half goals on Sunday to give his team 2-1 victory over visiting FC Taraba.



The victory lifts Lobi Stars to 15th place on the log with 27 points one more than Kwara United who lost 0-1 at home to Wikki Tourists.

The victory will boost Lobi Stars morale ahead of their Federation Cup semifinal game against Rangers who lost 3-2 to FC IfeanyiUbah on Sunday.

Okpotu who now has seven goals from six matches for Lobi since returning from Libya told Daily Trust on phone that victory over FC Taraba has eased relegation pressure.

He said he will continue to work hard to ensure that he scores more goals for his team.

Okpotu also thanked the fans who thronged the Aper Aku stadium to cheer Lobi Stars to victory.

“I am happy that we were able to record another convincing victory at home.

“I now have seven goals and I hope to score more goals. I will continue to work hard hoping that God will keep rewarding our efforts.

“With this victory the pressure of relegation is fast fading and we shall not drop our guard again," he said.
