Gunmen Kidnap #Benue Prominent Farmer In Vandeikya

Gunmen have kidnapped Mr. Iorbee Auda, a prominent farmer and businessman based in Ihugh town of Vandeikya local government area of Benue State.

The victim is the founder and president of 9-9 Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd in the state. He is one of the leading citrus and yam producers in the area.

The son of the victim, Aseer Iorbee told newsmen in an interview that the gunmen stormed their residence in Ihugh town at about 8.30pm on Thursday.

According to him, the abductors shot several times in the air to disperse family members before they finally whisked away the businessman in a vehicle.

It was gathered that although the whereabouts of the kidnapped farmer is still unknown but the family is said to have received a telephone call from the kidnappers on Friday in which they demanded N5million ransom.

The police in Vandeikya LGA have since swung into action to comb the area and free the victim; and had warned the affected family members not to negotiate payment with the kidnappers.

However, police public relations officer (PPRO), ASP Austin Ezeani when contacted said the command was yet to receive official report on the matter but insisted that investigation has commenced.
