A Suspected Killer Of Catholic Vicar In Police Net

The Benue State Police Command says it has apprehended a suspect in connection with the kidnap and killing of the Vicar General of the Catholic Diocese of Otukpo, Rev. Fr. John Adeyi.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Paul Okafor, who spoke on Tuesday, said the police were working round the clock to apprehend other persons involved in the killing.

The Catholic priest had been abducted at Odoba Village, along the Otukpo-Enugu Road on April 10 by some gunmen.

It was learnt that after the abduction, the kidnappers communicated the family, demanding the sum of N2m which was paid. But the kidnappers held on to him.

Adeyi’s decomposing body was later found behind an office complex at his hometown in Otukpa on June 22.

The CP said an investigation was ongoing into the matter.

He said, “We conducted our investigations and got a suspect arrested. I want to get more details before I comment on the case.”
