51 Suspects in Police Net ~ Benue Commissioner of Police

The Benue State Police Command arrested 51 suspects and recovered 21 assorted firearms in the past two weeks, Bashir Makama, the state Commissioner of Police, has said.

Makama spoke on Sunday in Makurdi while addressing newsmen.

He said the feat was achieved as a result of operational strategies adopted by the command.

Makama, who took over as the Commissioner of Police two weeks ago, listed the strategies adopted as the reinvigoration of visibility policing, intense patrols and periodic raids of criminal hideouts.

He listed the recovered weapons to include three foreign made pistols and 18 locally fabricated ones.

Makama said 56 live ammunitions, 10 cartridges and two expended ammunitions were also recovered from suspects during the period.

The police chief also said nine vehicles were recovered, while two 50kg bags of cannabis sativa and different brands of electronics as well as knives and banned narcotic substances were recovered from the suspects.
