Benue Workers Paid February Salary

After much public outcry, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has paid one month salary out of the several months he is owing civil servants in the state.

It was gathered that Ortom eventually bowed to pressure on Wednesday and decided to offset just one month salary.

Confirming the development, a civil servant who gave his name as Elias (surname withheld) said some workers have started receiving alerts since Wednesday.

“Some people are yet to receive alert but the truth is he has announced payment of February salary”, he said.

Asked how workers are feeling in state, he said, “what is there to celebrate? We worked for it and we are entitled to our wages. How do one celebrate one month salary out of several months being owed?”

  1. Our leaders and those in control of the state affairs should give cogent account of their looting and corrupt practices. Its a pit that for many years of building our state with frantic efforts by sincere personality then we keep watching few hands to drained our economy without nothing to show. Just imaging, pensioners are going through hectic suffering ranging between killing by various method due to poverty and other social indices. let asked simple question: What do we gain to acquire all this dialectical wealth without you knowing what happen to it after your exist. My kind suggestion is to ask those involve to have a rethink. The implication is that crime, social values and respect have been be undermined and our youths are prone to more crisis: kidnapping, cultism and stilling.Otukpo town is not exempted from this ugly act. It griped me each time we hare of the present situation in Idoma speaking area Agatu LGA even down to otukpa at Ogbadibo LGA the situation is alarming This should serve as a is lesson for all Idoma also the eponymous subgroup of the Idoma people. In our next election which is coming soon let pick the right candidate and change attitude from from embracing in immediate benefit and selfish interest.
