Benue state Governor, Samuel Ortom today flagged off execution of earmarked projects in the various public Primary Schools and UBE Junior Secondary Schools across the State under the UBE/Benue State Government Intervention Funds covering the years 2012, 2013, 2914 and 2015.

Performing the ceremony at L.G.E.A. Primary School Adem, Makurdi Local Government Area, the Governor explained that immediately he assumed duty on the 29th May, 2015, he saw a total decay in education most especially at all the Primary level. He said it was in line with this that he had seek the approval of the State House of Assembly to access loan which he will use to execute the projects.

The Governor further explained that he would ensure discipline in carrying out the projects and ask contractors to complete the projects within three Months.

Speaking earlier, Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Dennis Ityavyar charged parents to ensure that the Schools witness high level of intake during the opening of next session. He describe the projects as the best thing that happened to Benue people saying it is the first of It kind in the last five years.

Earlier in a welcome address, the acting SUBEB Chairman, Rev. Samuel Ker said since the inception of the Federal Government and the State Government collaboration in the provision of funds for the implementation of Primary School projects and programme, it is the first time a Governor of a State in the country will access backlog of UBEC Intervention Funds at a stretch covering a period of four years. He thanked the Governor for the concern he has shown on education particularly the Basic Education Sub-sector which he had vowed to make it the strongest among other levels of education.

Others who spoke at the event were representative of Ter Makurdi, Chief Sule Abenga, Acting Chairman, Makurdi Local Government, state PTA Chairman, representative of UBEC, representative of all contractors among others all appreciated the Governor's giant stride towards enhancing quality education in the State.

High points of the event includes decoration of the Governor by the village and district heads of Adem community as well as flagging off and block laying for the immediate kick off of the projects.
