The Ortom Boys currently sit six points adrift of a continental slot, but midfielder Sunday Akleche insists that it remains the target for the season

Sunday Akleche believes Lobi Stars are good enough to claim one of the top three spots in the Nigeria Professional Football League.

The Pride of Benue are currently placed ninth in the topflight table, seven points adrift of leaders, Plateau United.

Despite aiming to qualify for next season's continental club competition, Akleche insists that there is enough talent in the squad to mount a serious title challenge.

"Our expectations are high. There's no hiding at the start of the season. Our aim was to be in the top three. That hasn't changed," Akleche told

"But we aim high and we believe that we have got the squad - and the quality in the dressing room - to go all the way.

"We have the materials to make things happen in the second round of the league season. That is what we have planned and for sure it will be a reality.

"Lobi Stars belong to the continent and we have what it takes to accomplish the task at hand," he concluded.
