The Benue State government has said that it would sustain the war against illegal schools.

The state Commissioner of Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Dennis Ityavyar, said this while delivering his speech at the 20th graduation ceremony of the state chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Pen Nursery and Primary School in Makurdi.

“We are not relenting in closing illegal schools in the state. We will sustain the war against illegal schools,” he said.

Prof. Ityavyar, who was represented by his ministry’s Internal Auditor, Mr. Maxwell Ode Odigi, also congratulated the NUJ for contributing to the educational upliftment of the state.

Earlier, the chairman of the state council of NUJ, Comrade Chris Atsaka, thanked the government for providing the school with 10 teachers to help boost its manpower while he announced a slight increase of fees from N7, 000 to N8, 500 per pupil for each term.
