Suspected Robbers Kill 2, Shoot Soldier In Benue

Unidentified gunmen suspected to be armed robbers have reportedly killed two persons and injured a soldier at Tor-Donga village in Kastina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State.

According to the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Moses Yamu “The police got the report yesterday that a petrol filling station was attacked in the rural community by the robbers who carted away monies and valuables.”

Yamu disclosed further that the robbery gang had ordered everyone to lay on the floor while they robbed them of their belongings adding that it was in the course of the robbery that one of the victims raised his head and was immediately shot by the robbers.

He noted that the man died on his way to the hospital, alongside another civilian who was also shot dead by the robbers in the course of the operation.

The police spokesman said the wounded soldier who was part of a military special squad stationed in the area close to where the robbery took place only responded to a distress call from the victims.
