Tears As Remains Of PDP Supporters Buried in Benue

The bodies of eight Peoples Democratic party supporters who lost their lives last week in a fatal auto accident on the Ojinebe-Ugbokpo Road in Otukpo Local Government Area were on Friday laid to rest amidst tears and tributes by their families.

The late victims were on their way to Agatu for the senatorial campaign of former minister of interior and Benue South Senatorial candidate of the PDP, Comrade Abba, Moro before the accident occurred.

In his funeral oration, the Bishop of Methodist Church, Adinu diocese in Oju, Bishop Emmanuel Ode, charged believers to always be prepared as death can come at any time.

The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, on his part, announced the approval and appointment of each of the bereaved family members into the state civil service.

The governor further directed the immediate repairs of the bad portions of the road from Ehijwo leading to the College of Education, Oju, within three weeks in honour of the fallen party fateful.

He promised that the state government will liaise with national assembly member from the area to ensure that the federal government takes action on the road from Oju to Ebonyi.

“The deceased had paid a supreme price for Democracy and l was consoled by the legacies they left behind and l can assure you that their families would not be forgotten.

“I want to admonish the families of the bereaved to take solace in God and continue to look up to God for their needs,” he said.
